Parent Visas (103) / Contributory Parent Visa (143)

This permanent visa allows parents of settled Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia permanently.

Both visa types require you to satisfy these fundamental requirements:

Contributory Parent Visa (143)

The Subclass 143 Contributory Parent Visa allows parents of settled Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens to live in Australia permanently.

  • This visa has a high cost
  • The visa fee is paid in 2 separate instalments

For the 143 visa, you’ll also need to arrange an Assurance of Support before the grant, which isn’t typically required for the 103 visa. While both visas share these basic eligibility criteria, the 143’s additional financial requirements reflect its faster processing timeframe.

Subclass 143 offers a faster route to permanent residency, typically taking just over 7 years to process.

Subclass 103 applications can stretch up to 31 years, making it a much longer commitment.

Processing times for Subclass 143 are prioritized due to higher application fees.
