Subclass 804 – Aged Parent Visa

This permanent visa lets an aged parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen stay in Australia.

This is the ONLY parent visa applicants are entitled for Bridging Visa while applying in Australia.
No MEDICARE enrolment possible unless applicant is on a temporary contributory parent visa, or the applicant is a temporary resident covered by a Ministerial Order.

You must

meet health / character requirements

must be able to obtain an assurance of support

be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia

You must be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia

have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen

must be in Australia at the time of application and grant of the visa , but can travel overseas with Bridging Visa B.

not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.

must meet the balance-of-family test (at least half of your children and step-children are eligible children, or there are more eligible children living in Australia than in any other single country)
